By performing different body poses, trying different techniques for breathing and meditation helps our body in many ways. Many Doctors recommend yoga to people who don’t recover after much time as it heals the body naturally because there are many Benefits of doing yoga regularly. Moreover, it has no side effects like the medicines which doctors give in the early phase of depression.


Talking about depression, it’s a common mental disorder caused by major setbacks like the failure of a project, death of loved ones, pressure, or loneliness after which a person loses interest in daily activities and cut off from family & friends. According to an estimate of WHO around 322 million people are suffering from depression and it’s the 10th leading cause early death.

Yoga is the best therapy to make your body fit and energetic throughout the day and requires only 15-20 minutes of practice yoga daily even during COVID-19 Pandemic situation .  Yoga therapy is the same for everybody despite their age but still, some yoga poses can’t be performed by children and some by old people.

Some Yoga poses to do:

Halasana (pose like a plow)

Benefits – Provides Calmness to the nervous system, reduces fatigue, also helps in boosting energy levels.

Shisuasana (pose like a small child)

Benefits – deep relaxing of full body and reduces stress

Savasana (posing like a corpse)

Benefits – helps in rejuvenating the body and refreshes. Helps in Vata dosha – a disturbance in air element which causes depression.

Adho Mukha savasana ( posing like a dog facing downward)

Benefits – surges the blood circulation throughout the body, also helps in relieving from headache and insomnia.

Bhramari pranayama (humming bee breathing exercise)

Benefits – controlling the confused mind and helps in building confidence.

Utthita Trikonasana ( extended triangle pose)

Benefits – it’s a great posture for beginners. It helps in alleviating anxiety and depression.

Urdhva Mukha svanasana (upward-facing dog pose)

Benefits – it improves posture, stretches chest and lungs, helps relieve mild depression and fatigue.

The above-mentioned yoga asanas are very easy to do and very helpful in other aspects also. They also help in remaining energetic all day and getting sound sleep at night.
